Aug. 7, 2015—Kimberley Criswell, an assistant principal at Danish Elementary School, was named the new principal for Jowell Elementary School on Aug. 7. Criswell replaces Dr. Julie Manuel, who retired from the district in June.
Criswell has 26 years of educational experience, including 2 1/2 years as an educational volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps. She has served the last 20 years in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, beginning with three years as an educational diagnostician at Owens, Holmsley and Reed elementary schools. She transitioned into the assistant principal role at McFee Elementary School, serving three years before accepting her current position at Danish Elementary School in 2010.
Criswell earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Education in Special Education from the University of St. Thomas. She received principal certification from the University of Houston.
“I am honored to serve as the next principal of Jowell Elementary,” Criswell said. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the staff and the community to continue the tradition of high academic standards for all students and the commitment to making a difference in each student's life.”
